Fine Woodworking by Lachlan Park

Wood

'Wood', its the reason I do what I do. It fascinates me, inspires me, and is a constant source of motivation. It is the most wondrous of materials, each new log, flitch or board presents new possibilities for design and craftsmanship.

I source the majority of the wood I use from fallen or removed trees. Using a chainsaw mill I cut these trees into flitches which are then stacked and left to dry for a number of years. Once the wood has seasoned, it is then moved inside the workshop awaiting its life as a piece of furniture.
